About Bandvalue

Bandvalue interprets a manually selected resistor color sequence using a specific named manufacturer reference. It separates significant digits, multiplier and tolerance so a band’s role is visible instead of hidden behind a final number. Four and five-band modes share one calculator because they are two role arrangements of this same marking task.

The site uses the declared Vishay reference convention linked in the guide. In particular, gray tolerance is 0.05% in that table. The reference page has a stated historical revision; this site does not present it as a guarantee of the latest universal marking standard or identical behavior across every manufacturer.

What the result means

The output is nominal resistance and an arithmetic interval from the selected marked tolerance. It is not measured resistance, physical component identification, reading-direction detection, a power rating or circuit advice. A supported color combination does not establish that such a component is manufactured or available. Uncertain physical colors remain uncertain even when an online swatch looks clear.

Exact integer-scaled arithmetic keeps fractional multipliers and narrow tolerance intervals readable. Color names and role labels accompany the diagram, so meaning does not rely on color alone. Mode changes and band edits clear old results, and copy/download always refer to the current decoded selection.

Free, independent and local

This independent website contains one free browser-local calculator, with a guide, original examples, privacy explanation and contact page. No account, payment or email is required to use it. This source release has no active analytics, advertising or consent-platform loader. Publication and prepared publisher metadata are separate from advertising approval, visitors or earnings.

Startup and reset restore a fixed public example. Optional feedback uses an existing shared public forwarding alias. A small named-color sequence and expected arithmetic are enough to reproduce an issue; no photograph or device details are required. The contact page explains useful reports, while the privacy page describes local processing, clipboard/download actions and ordinary hosting requests.
